Lavertezzo lies about 20 km northwest of Locarno. The valley road leaves the main route near Gordola and follows the river upstream, passing the Verzasca Dam and the lake before reaching the village. There is no railway in the valley: you arrive by road, either in your own car or on the PostBus.

By PostBus

A PostBus line runs along the valley from Locarno towards Sonogno, with stops at or near Lavertezzo. Frequency is higher in summer and lower in winter, and some seasonal extra services exist. Look up the exact stop and times on the SBB timetable the day before. If you sleep in Ticino, ask your host about the Ticino Ticket, a guest card that covers public transport in the canton at participating accommodation.

By car

From the motorway, leave towards Locarno or Gordola and follow signs for Valle Verzasca. The road is two-lane, winding in places and used by buses, so drive calmly. Some tunnels and narrow stretches have little room for oncoming traffic.

Parking. Spaces near the bridge are few and in season usually paid. Arrive before about 10 am on a July or August weekend or you may queue. Never park on the road shoulder or block field entrances.
