Lavertezzo packs a lot into a short stretch of river. The headline is the Ponte dei Salti, but the best visits combine it with a walk, some quiet time on the gneiss slabs and one other place in the Verzasca Valley.
The best things to do
- See the Ponte dei Salti. The two-arched bridge is free to visit and best photographed early or late, when fewer people stand on it. Read the Ponte dei Salti guide.
- Walk the riverside paths. Marked footpaths follow the Verzasca in both directions. See hikes around Lavertezzo.
- Swim, carefully. In July and August the pools look irresistible, but they are cold and the river can change fast. The swimming safety guide comes first.
- Visit the Verzasca Dam. A 220 m concrete wall near the valley mouth, famous from a 1995 film scene. Details on the dam page.
- Explore Corippo and Sonogno. Stone villages with very different characters. See Corippo and Sonogno.
- Take a guided tour. A guide handles the driving and the timing. See Verzasca Valley tours.
